Influenza vaccination campaign in Thailand

As the outbreak of new strains of influenza infection (H1N1) 2009 in Thailand since May 2009  and resulted in many patients and high mortality rate in certain groups. And now likely that influenza outbreak again in winter time in many areas, especially in rural areas. The H1N1 influenza vaccination campaign has launch for different risk groups. Another way is to reduce the death rate of people. However, because vaccine production is not enough for people around the world. Thailand’s Ministry of Health has ordered to purchase vaccines at a dose of 2 million  high risk target groups. The main objective is.
1. To protect the country’s health system.
2. To reduce the rate of patients. Death rate of people.
High-risk target groups in order to have the vaccine.
1. Medical health care personnel. Risk of disease from contact with patients , about 371,424 people includes.
2. Pregnant women. Age 3 months or more pregnant including the number of 500,915 people.
3. People weighing more than 100 kg or body mass index from 35 kg / m 2 of 182,384 people.
4. People with disabilities includes72,132 people.
5. Persons aged 6 months – 64 years with chronic diseases, including obstructive chronic lung disease, heart disease, all types of asthma ,stroke, kidney disease and cancer patients in the chemotherapy-treated. Patients with immunodeficiency disease. Diabetes complications and diabetes, includes 842,895 people.
